Elizabeth "E" Kitzenberg is Founder & Principal Consultant at The Kitzenberg Group, where she partners with mission-driven nonprofits to build their advancement capabilities and the operational infrastructure needed for sustainable growth.
Elizabeth brings two decades of advancement expertise to The Kitzenberg Group. Following law school, her career began at Harvard University and flourished at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she spent a decade. As a Principal and Major Gift Officer, she secured several seven-figure gifts and one eight-figure commitment. She was tapped to launch a new integrated clinical research program for early detection of cancer. As Chief Advancement Officer at Open to Debate, Elizabeth secured inaugural partnerships with leading universities, including Johns Hopkins and Arizona State University.
Her approach combines institutional fundraising expertise with an entrepreneurial perspective developed through co-founding Picnic Linden Hills, an award-winning Minneapolis restaurant. This dual experience allows her to deliver sophisticated advancement strategies grounded in operational realities—she understands both eight-figure donor cultivation and quarterly cash flow management.
With legal training and extensive high-net-worth donor experience, Elizabeth brings technical precision to advancement strategy, board development, and organizational growth. At The Kitzenberg Group, she works with executive directors and boards at critical inflection points, providing expertise that enables nonprofits to scale their impact without compromising mission integrity.
Elizabeth earned her J.D. and B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and resides in South Minneapolis with her husband and two children.
